About the event

Barry Beach - Beach Organics – Slow Food in a Fast World

Liz Sanders – The Food Embassy – Strengthening Community Connection to Food

Wednesday 2nd of August – 6:00pm-9:00pm

All money raised goes to help The Food Embassy to enable individuals, communities and businesses to regain connection to their food.

Barry Beach is a long-time leader of the organic and permaculture community on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Beach Organics is nestled in the hills close to the surfing beaches of Middleton and the historic township of Port Elliot, South Australia. It’s a perma-culturally inspired property carefully managed according to strict organic principles for over 30 years.

Beach Organics store, located in Plant 4 at Bowden, offers fresh certified organic vegetables & organic handmade sourdough breads. Plus, small batch produce sourced from Traditional Food Artisans over the world "helping to keep ancient food traditions alive and well".

These days, consumers want to know as much as they can about what they eat, and Beach Organics realises that food is more than just fuel, but instead, a celebration of life to be shared.

Barry will give a short talk about the Slow Food Movement and the importance of food provenance, the benefits of organic foods, the value of ethical trade practises, and the power of building strong communities.

Liz Sanders is the co-founder and manager of social enterprise, The Food Embassy.

She has worked in community development and as a nutritionist in multiple industries throughout her career and strives to create opportunities to make informed choices around nutrition and wellbeing and believe in collaboration and equity. Working with the Food Embassy allows her and her team to celebrate community and work within my values of connection, nourishing food and wellbeing for all people.

Liz will give a short talk about our how we can strengthen our community connection to our food systems.

Enjoy food prepared the Raw Kitchen Crew using recipes and ingredients from Essentials By Dirt(y), a supplier of ethical, sustainable and artisanal whole foods, who lives and breathes slow food principles.
